Hi all, Well I've been 'lurking' on the site now for what I've just realised now is about 6 months! 2009 wasn't a great year for me, but it ended well! From being close to being made redundant and getting swine flu, I've managed to keep my job and in the middle of October my wife gave birth to our 2nd son who's doing really well now! So I've managed to get my laptop fingers going again now my head is above water lol! I promise to get more active on here again... Anyway, I've had my impreza for just about a year now and I effing LOVE IT! Been tinkering with it here and there, so here are some pics in order of 'development'! Some of you my remember me, but probably only from pics of the car lol! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Did everything myself thanks to the guides on here and SN. Also changed my head unit and the rear indicators bulbs to silvervision as per the front, so I'll get some pics up of those soon! I've a few plans for 2010 - watch this space!!! Gonna try and get to some meets and shows this year and bring along my two sons (Jordan and Jensen) one of which is already hooked on scoobies lol! Cheers for looking... |

Cheers guys - few things I'd like to do this year. Toying with a drop in suspension (good call scooby1929 lol!) and a short shifter. Depending how low I go, I've been looking at front splitters and have seen some varying designs so just need to pick one! Although I love my white wheels, (as I was pre-warned) I spend longer cleaning them than it takes to do the rest of the car! So I'm thinking of getting them powder coated brake dust grey. I've some other cosmetic ideas that I'm photoshopping, but if I think any of them look good enough I'll post them up for opinion! Would like to get my brakes upgraded as the std front discs and pads are crepe! But I did notice a groove in one of the discs this week and I bought the car with new pads fitted from an 'unknown' source, so I'm presuming they were cheaper than McCains best! This year I also plan to get some additional guages in, cos I always worry that I'm not running the car long enough in this weather for the oil to get up to operating temp. Coolant is up within two miles no matter how cold it gets, but I'm convinced the oil is still gloopy - so some of my short journeys I never get on boost! |

Welcome back Shack, congratulations on the weeman and the car is looking well. Generally my oil takes around 20 minutes to get up to full temp

Cheers Stu - you've changed your username!? Yeah, I always base the engine oil temp on how smooth my gearbox feels! Its a little stiff when cold and changes seem to be smoother as the gearbox oil gets warmer (about 20 mins as well). So I figure the engine oil will be at least as warm... Another pic of the new front end (with free winter grime!) |

May have a set of WRX pads brand new that would fit your car matey Also be wary of powder coating alloys...think there was a thread here a while back about the temps used affecting the rim strength On a more positive note wheel wise, I am currently getting my standard STI alloys sprayed gunmetal grey by Jimturbo, and you are more than welcome to get a gander at the finished results Car is looking very well, loving the revised mesh on the front, and the debadged grille..... PS white alloys are a PITA to keep looking fresh LOL

Cheers, yeah I think I've managed to make it to one meet and two shows in the year I've been a member on here Jordan is nearly three so is becoming a little more self sufficient but Jensen is only 3 months, so I'll probably wait till the weather improves before bringing him along!

My Rota's appear to be powder coated as new, but I guess they can control the process more effectively. Wasn't aware that powder coating them might affect the strength, but I guess lightweight alloy could be prone to becoming brittle due to excess heat. Appreciate the heads up about your own getting resprayed by Jimturbo - would be great to get a look at them when they're done. The Carbone Lorraine pads are apparently very dusty (Scubbay uses them on his track car) so I'll definately need to rethink my wheel colour lol! I do love white on blue, but I'm losing days over the year I've been cleaning them - as you say a real PITA!!!! Thanks for the comments, trying to do some subtle changes to give my scoob a bit of a cleaner look! The oven was freed up from the 27th Dec this year, so the headlights went straight in lol!

PMSL.....hard to book the oven prior to that, damn turkey gets in the way LOL Will have a look and see what make/model the pads are that I have ...donated by another member who moved away from scoob ownership

Cheers much appreciated, don't go to too much trouble though mate - I've ordered grooved discs off Scubbay and I think I'll need to upgrade the pads too tbh...

Jenson, cool name for your weeman, named after the Jenson Healey by any chance?

Cheers Stu! Actually. we spelt it like the Interceptor lol! But we had actually picked the name ages ago and fate had it that Jensen was born on the 19th Oct - the day after Button picked up the World Championship - so my wee boy's fate was sealed with that one! Of course, as Big Red says, I totally am claiming that I predicted the win and thats the reason lol! The wife only realised about a month after he was born that our boys both have names that have links with F1 and she was in awe of how I managed to sneak that past her lol! Jordan and Jensen - they just go together so well!
