Default Buying a car with no mot

As some of you may see ive advertised my classic for sale on here with no mot. However there is a genuine reason why I havent retested.

Does this put you off any car or would it not matter as long as the car is in good condition body/mechanical wise when you view it?

What advice can you give me reguarding this issue?

    Cheers

If I was buying it would depend largely on what the genuine reason was?

Would it put me off? Not necessarily but I would be looking it pretty cheap to cover my ***. (as I very recently found out )

i am not mechanicaly minded at all , so if it was me i would be asking for a MOT. However , if it was someone who knew thier way around the oily bits , i wouldnt think it would put them off. Def worth a look i would think !

Car was going to be advertised at around £3k but as there's no test ive dropped the price down to £2500 to cover any buyers trouble etc

My reason is 100% genuine for not retesting

why not just MOT it then ? Theres no doubts then , easier to sell , and gives u a bargaining tool ? (dont need to give the reason , i'm just saying)
Could you be bothered having to MOT a car you just bought ?

Ive had to test a few cars after buying them so it never really bothered me to be fair.

Tried getting a test recently but there has been no dates until June but im advertising now to see if anyone wants to pick her up at the cheaper price. Had a test a while back but a mate let me down with his transporter and I had to cancel

Any seller will always say there car is in perfect condition etc but not me. Ive said the body work has a couple of small dings and the drivers seat is torn but apart from that ive found nothing wrong with her.

The price is so low for a quick sale nothing more.

personally , i HATE MOTs ! Would hate it even more on a car i know nothing about ! lol !
As u said yourself , they can be a bit of hassle sometimes , i wouldnt want the 1st thing i had to do to a new car to be a MOT.

but then , if the person is like yourself they wont mind that !

    a dilema indeed !

You don't need a transporter to drive it to an MOT if you've insurance still. You're allowed to drive it to prearranged garages and MOT. Phone the nearest MOT place to you at 8.30/9 every morning and you'll get a cancellation within a few days. Job done, MOT sorted, no point lowering your price.

Its a cracking looking car btw.

Another thing tho is that just because a car has a full test doesnt mean that its not a dog!

Ive seen a few imports with long tests that have quite a bit of rust, very low in power and have boost spikes (my 1st impreza was a perfect example)

Just posted this to see how the rest of you guys felt about the issue

yeah but if anything goes wrong , to me , they have no come-back if its just went through MOT. They would have a hard argument , i mean you arent physic , the best you can is have a MOT certificate ? Anything else is sods law and they can jog on !

For all you know your car could die the day after selling it , and if all you had done is take £500 off the sale price i wouldnt be long paying u a visit ! lol !

Though , just thinking , a certificate is only good for the day it passed . Whats to stop anyone swapping parts just to pass , then swap them back to sell the car !

FFS , this is doing my head in and its not even me seeling ! I say just take each viewer as they come ! If they want the MOT done by you it'll be the higher price.

I wouldnt consider paying anywhere near that amount for a car with no test. Maximum would be £1000 for a classic. No reflection on your car or yourself whatsoever. Makes it alot harder to sell imho
