Default Another year, another excuse not to cover me.

Last year when i was renewing my insurance, you were not able to cover me because none of my no claims were earned on the subaru. I could understand that. But this year i was refused any type of insurance by greenlight due to the car being used for competition. As far as i know greenlight offer trackday insurance, so to me this makes no sense. Especially because sprints and hillclimbs are very similar to trackdays except there is zero chance of hitting another car as only one is allowed on the track/hill at any one time. I was only looking a limited milage policy to get me to and from events and in my oppinion it should not matter what i do with my car on a private road, track, closed road or whatever it may be as i know im not covered anyway. Im sure yous could cover me but i just seems that you dont want to tbh.

if you hadnt have told them that you used it for sprints , and you had an accident at the event , but dont make a claim (because i assume you would only wreak your own car , so just take it as bad luck) why tell them ? How would they know if you dont make a claim ?

Genuine question by the way , not having a go mate.

Because i asked if they could supply a quote on a specialist competition car basis. (which is generally cheaper as it only covers to and from events, between stages etc etc and not nipping down the shops) that said for what i use the car for a normal road car policy would do the same job, but for how little my car moves on public roads these days its not worth the cost. Id be better hireing a trailer or buying one.

Also if you had an accident at an event, the police cannot get involved as its not on a public road. Insurance companys will require a police report for a claim to take place i assume but dont know as iv never been in an accident.

Take it on the chin and vote with your wallet - if they cant get thier act together now when you just need a quotation, what do you think it would be like in the event you did need to make a claim. Plenty of insurers out there who are very keen to have your business.

I have recently renewed three of my policies, LV, Chaucer Direct and Admiral came in at the best prices - happy with the cover provided, and hope to not need their claims department.

Tbh i dont think they would have been competitive against the specialist insurance anyway. I just dont understand why theyve refused me cover altogether. I dont think they like me too much haha!

    Ahem.................

Greenlight Insurance is a specialist vehicle insurance provider, established in 1996 with a view to offering superior cover, service and technical knowledge to the performance, cherished and modified car owner.

Dont feel left out Paul there is many a like, they talk the talk but at the end of the day they cant offer cover. Tried for several years to give these guys my money but it seems not wanted. Not a major problem Adrian Flux will cover me for the right price.

Bottom line is Greenlight are just a broker like many others the key is the underwriters they have access too. Be worth sending Clive Fulcher on 22b a PM (mad hammer)

I know what your saying stu, have been insured with flux this past year, even when i asked if they could suppyly me with competition car road cover they hadnt a clue but did there best to find out more for me. Ended up they appoligised for not being able to get me a suitable policy but offered me a normal policy instead. Theyre £400 too expensive this year tho at the same price as last year.

Just to update, i was contacted by greenlight shortly after my last post and they bent over backwards to help me. They are now dealing with competition car insurance again. They bettered the best price i had by a few pound but overall i think there offer was a more suitable policy for what i need. I feel bad now for starting this thread haha!
So fair play to tony and the team. Cheers!
