    Default Recession modding! New bits added to my bugeye,Loads of pic's

    We all are sick hearing about this recession and we all know the penny's are tight, but there are plenty of deals out there as long as your willing to be paitient and get your hands dirty! Its easy to modd your car with loads of money, buy the stuff, get someone to fit it, done..
    But if your like me and not minted and enjoy working on your own car there is alot of deals out there and alot of genuine people who are willing to help and give ya loads of info, like on here!
    So decided to stick up my recession project, its all about getting the most out of every penny ya spend and leaving the extra for fuel coupons! No point in spending all the money on the car and not been able to take it out!
    Modding your motor on a tighter budget!

    My car started like this;

    Since getting the car ive added a few bits,
    Wheels; Had 17 gold STI wheels, found a lad looking for these so I gave him my 17, he gave me his 18' prodrive reps, they were rough, faded peachy gold! Yuck!!
    Got them sand blasted 100euro, primed and paint them myself 24euro for the cans of primer and paint from Halfords, two new tires, pink STI graffix cut out for the centre caps, a pink strip for the wheels didn't leave it on too long, all for 8euro,
    So my wheels cost me less than 300 euro!

    Last month, gave the engine a good clean and added dual oil catch tanks!
    Got the tanks on ebay, 50 delivered, had to then buy some silicone hose as the stuff supplied along with it is really cheap, weak and naff looking. Picked up the hose connectors in b&q for 1.50 each! I like the look and filters the air inside the engine, before adding them I opened them up and added a filter inside them, some people add them without the filters which defeats the purpose i think.

    New bits added this month,(excuse the dark pic's Im using me phone)
    Bit slow getting them up online but here they are!
    Vortex generator is plastic with carbon effect, looked aweful so I sprayed it myself and added decals, the centre gauges and wired to the sensor under in the oil filter sandwich plate (remember the oil leak at the mcrea run? Turned out to be a loose blanking plug) Was going to buy a pod for the centre gauges, ended up taking out the clock modding the clock surround does the job n save me 50bucks! The pod for the boost gauge is'nt the best fit, but for 5 quid it will do, ill do a job on it to make it a bit more snug.

    New bits;

    Boost gauge from Autogauge, (cost me 3euros) Score!!

    Out with old boost gauge that came with the car.
    If anyone wants it ya can ave it!

    Mounted the sensor for the boost gauge under here, nice n hidden.

    See.

    New Boost gauge off.

    New Boost gauge on.

    Center gauges off. From left to right, Fuel pressure(need a t-piece for sensor), Oil pressure, Oil temp.

    Centre turned on.

    Finished interior.

    Vortex generator (****) carbon fibre effect

    Painted and fitted, think it looks alot better.

    DIY all the way!

    next month its and electronic boost controller!

    Nice work.

    You might want to relocate the boost sensor to inside the car to avoid it getting wet or damp and stopping it functioning. (£20 for a new one delivered)

    very tasy mods, looks sweet, but as gt blue says, put the boost sender unit for the boost gauge under the dash, they do not take to moisture at all.....

    How did you attach the vortex generator?
    Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves
