Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena today won the inaugural FIA World Rally Championship event in Bulgaria. The Citroën Total World Rally Team crew claimed a 29.5 second winning margin over team-mates Dani Sordo/Marc Marti, with Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson taking the final podium position.

The final day of competition in the Bulgarian mountains took in two loops of two stages covering 94.52 competitive kilometres. With significant time differences between the crews, the main fight on the leaderboard was between Sordo and Solberg. However, neither was prepared to risk their podium placing and so positions within the top 10 remained unchanged throughout the day.

Former Formula One World Champion Kimi Räikkönen continued to recover from his first day accident, setting top times and ultimately finishing 11th overall in his first tarmac rally.

The next round of the FIA World Rally Championship takes the crews to one of the classics on the calendar, Rally Finland (29-31 July).
