Rhuddlan based Luke Francis (21) and co-driver John Roberts of Colwyn Bay are hoping for better luck in the 4th round of the BTRDA Rally Series.

Despite finishing in 17th place overall and 9th in class on the opening round of the Series, the Team GMF Wyedean Stages, the crew have had a run of bad luck.* On the Malcolm Wilson Rally, the* crew had a brief excursion of the road, but the absence of spectators in that area prevented a quick recovery onto the stage and the time retired when they ran out of time.* On the third round of the Series, the Somerset Stages, bad luck struck again when the bolts holding the rear diff mount sheared causing another retirement.

The Bob Francis Crane Hire Ltd sponsored crew have their fingers crossed on what is a reasonably local event for them.

Luke and John start the rally as car 24 in the over 1400CC 4WD category (Class N4) in their Mitsubishi Evo 9.* It promises to be an interesting class battle with Tom Cave, Daniel Sigurdarson, Alex Allingham, Patrick Naylor, Tom Naughton, James Grint, Paul Davy, Wug Utting, Barry Jones, Dylan Davies, Nigel Seabold and Spender Wilkinson all chasing the class honours.

The Plains rally commences from Broad Street, Welshpool at 08.00 hrs on Saturday morning, with special stage tests at Gartheiniog Forest, Dyfi Forest and Hafren Forest with a short and twisty stage in Mad Mick Jones' Wood Yard, some 5 miles outside of Welshpool.* Heavy rain on the eve of the event might make for some interesting conditions in the Welsh Forests!
