    Default replacing a tdo4 with a ihi vf34 turbo

    hi does anybody know much about the vf34 turbo am gonna replace the tdo4 with the vf34. ive got a full apexi exhaust system and from mount intercooler kit on the way, am also replacing the fuel pump with a walbro one and just gonna set up a boost controller

    No big issues fitting it as it's a direct fit. Get a gasket kit and maybe replace the oil lines too. Def need a remap with all those mods

    ive been told that my subaru cant be mapped am just going by ear, another fella told me the ecu can only be chipped if this is true

    If it can't be mapped you will need an ecu that can be mapped or your car will run dangerously lean with that turbo and a fmic

    so i take it the turbo is a gd turbo when used with the correct parts

    It's a great turbo prob the best for non forged engine. Would be my 1st choice for my 03 wrx

    Nice one, the vf34 is a great choice for lots of cars, SEAT leon and Ibiza cupras get them as a fairly sizeable power upgrade and turns them into fwd animals.
    Got a VF24 here myself and am waiting to fit it and get it mapped too.

    another thing am wondering is all the upgraded down pipes the same fitment from the vf34 and tdo4 type exhaust flange

    as for mapping - depends what actual MY your car is. although its a 1998 it could still be an MY99 car as they are from sep 98 onwards and therefore std ecu is mappable.

    otherwise for MY98 its ESL daughterboard that you need as far as im aware.

    you could actual PM jolly green monster as he is on the site and very informative and will let ya know all possible options you have.

    Aftermarket, has the wider bellmouth entry.


    Standard one is more like this, note that it is a narrower offset pipe.


    Both have the same gaskets and stud pattern though.
