    Default Fluids question.

I just went out there and was checking my engine fluids. They were last changed at approx 13k last October and the car has now done 17.5k. The oil needed 500ml to top it up and the coolant was down to just above the lower limit in the reservoir. Is this normal? In my last car an MG ZR it drank oil about 500ml every month.

Engines differ in usage Davey, important thing is to check and top up like you're doing. Nothing to worry about lad

Davey, Johnny Scott had told me exactly the same as Sean has said. Some use more than others and it probably depends how they are driven. I check my oil every month and it usually takes a drop but not a great deal. Nothing to worry about mate.

Oils are so thin nowadays, engines do tend to drink a little more than years ago, nothing to be concerned about.

Davey had your coolant been changed? Could there have been a bit of air trapped that worked its way out of the system causing your level to drop?

It was open because I was fixin the bonnet protector on Sat nite. One of the grommets came of. So I left open cause I would forget to finish the job off so he must have done it on Sun morn.

I guess the moral of the story is don't leave your bonnet open
