chassis codes, numbers

was tryin to get my car registation changed on the plate under the bonnet the code reads GC8A48D up on scoobypedia it says its a 93 how can i get this changed for classic insurance??? tax office says it need proof from a subaru dealer?? are these codes reliable. cheers

im assuming you are talking about the MY (model year) and your car being an MY93. if so then MY93 runs from Sept 92 till Sept 93

You will struggle getting Classic Insurance on an Import! Codes are very reliable you will need to pay either Subaru fr a report or an engineer that knows his scoobs.

How is your car on a P Plate now, thats Aug 97 -Aug 98? Possible they registered it on the Import date rather than than the build date. It used to be very easy to bluff the DVLNI when it came to imports, very little paperwork was required to register one here. My Classic was imported in by a Guy in Castlewellan and it was registered as a 22B, if only. It seems to be a thing over here more so registering them as a 2.0 NA car to avoid high insurance premiums.

my motor is n116 *** lol but was first registered in ni 2007, 1995 in the uk was talkin to a lady in dvlni and said if i get a letter from a subaru dealer,, and send it off could maybe work out ????????????

Doh thought it was on a P knew it was on an English plate. What year is it on the log book, i think you call it a tax book over here

It should be on a K or L dependant on month, i am assuming you want it on a personal plate rather than a generic NI plate?

So you have a 1993 car which would be K or L, imported into England 1995 which would be L or M but registered on a 1996 N plate

stu cheers for the help i am lookin the date of manufacture changed as the car is 20 years old now but because of the import s***** i can't but everything else says 93 classic ....

Take it to your local Subaru dealership, they will be able to give you a letter to explain what the chassis code actually explains! and what the correct year of manufacture was....
There is a company down here that is going to insure my 97 wagon as Classic next year aswell!!!!

Some difference in price, near 1000 euro for insurance now, classic will be 350 and still allowed a fair bit of milage too
